The Political Science major at 91吃瓜 prepares students for success in a wide range of fields by developing highly transferable skills such as analytical thinking, effective communication, and ethical decision-making. Our faculty brings deep academic expertise and real-world experience to the classroom, mentoring students as they explore careers in public service, law, education, business, international affairs, and beyond.
Rooted in 91吃瓜鈥檚 mission, the program includes interdisciplinary learning, service and experiential opportunities, and an emphasis on global and multicultural understanding. In addition to learning about government and political systems, students are encouraged to take courses in economics, study abroad, and build proficiency in a second language鈥攑reparing them for graduate school and careers in a competitive global marketplace.

Panetta Internship
Live, Learn, and Lead in Washington, D.C. 鈥� All Expenses Paid
Imagine spending a semester in Washington, D.C.鈥攍iving just blocks from the Capitol, walking the halls of Congress, and working side-by-side with lawmakers and policy experts. The Panetta Institute鈥檚 Congressional Internship Program offers 91吃瓜 students exactly that: a prestigious, fully funded opportunity to experience the center of American democracy from the inside.
This transformative program begins with an intensive two-week academic orientation at the Panetta Institute, where students prepare for their time in the nation鈥檚 capital through seminars led by national leaders and scholars. From there, selected interns head to Washington to serve in the office of a California member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Interns also attend weekly seminars that deepen their understanding of public service and policymaking.
The best part? All program costs are covered鈥攊ncluding airfare, housing, ground transportation, and a living stipend. Students also earn full-time academic credit, making this both a career-launching and academically rewarding experience.
